Banking
The Superintendence of Banking
Institutions is the regulating agent of the financial
system in our country.
Globalization has considerably modified the financial sector panorama all over
the world. Mergers, the appearance of complex financial products (forwards,
swaps, etc.), coupled with the great progress in informatics have enabled important
changes to happen in the operative way, in the regulation frames, in the way
of being related with the clients (banking at distance, etc.), which is generally
associated to an increase risk in the sector.
In view of this situation the authorities
which regulate the financial system and the financial
institutions have concerned more and more about the control
and handling of risks, by means of a bigger emphasis
in the internal audit activities, and more stringent
controls on the part of the monetary authority, etc..
It is the responsibility of the Superintendence
of Banking Institutions to control the public and private
companies that carry out banking activities and among
others, to supervise and inspect in order to fix and
modify the quantity of the minimum net patrimonial responsibility,
level of cash reserve, patrimonial relationships, etc.
The regulatory agent communicates with the market through
Mails and Reports where it establishes the course of
action.
